Pirates Week

Perhaps no other Caribbean nation celebrates its pirate legends and cultural heritage quite like the Cayman Islands, which erupts into a festival of spectacle and pageantry during our annual Pirates Week in November. A week of fun filled days of music, street dances, competitions, games, traditional dishes and drinks, a children’s fun day, teen dance, two glittering parades, a pirate invasion and spectacular fireworks displays!

‘Pirates’ will invade the islands attacking from the sea in Hog Sty Bay in George Town harbour.  Traditionally the Governor is ‘captured’ and the pirates ‘run amok’ before being cast off again for another year.  Thousands of people line the streets to watch the spectacle and its good-natured swashbuckling fun. It’s the only event of its kind in the Caribbean region and it caters to everyone in the family!

Batabano

A true Caribbean tradition with a display of music, dance and colourful costumes.  Batabano is the national carnival of the Cayman Islands and features street parades for adults and children, Art in the Heart and street dances. This is an event worth traveling for!

Taste of Cayman Food Festival

Taste of Cayman began in the late 80’s with a small number of restaurants competing in a chili cook-off. Over the years, our annual Caribbean event has grown tremendously.  We now have dozens and dozens of restaurants and distributors participating in an open air festival that draws thousands of food and wine lovers every winter.  For more information about Taste of Cayman, call: 345-949-8522

New Years Fireworks

New Year’s Eve is a fantastic event in Grand Cayman. Fireworks light up the whole of Seven Mile Beach where bars and restaurants hold events. Either enjoy a great meal at one of the restaurants or bring a blanket, get a group of friends together and sit on the beach to enjoy the show. A great night for the young and old!
